Wilderness Falls ll Ribbon Cutting
FALLS CITY – Residents in Falls City soon will have more options when it comes to housing.
Wilderness Falls II, which is new housing project with seven duplexes celebrated a ribbon cutting and open house on Wednesday morning. The duplexes will allow for 14 units that vary from 2-4 bedroom spaces.
The project is the second installment in the area, and is located on 31st and Barada St. in Falls City. Due to the overwhelming success of the first project, the development group ‘Excel’ decided to come back for another installation.
The houses are intended for lower-to-moderate income occupants and households that meet 60 percent of the area medium income will receive NIFA tax credits. Excel Development Director Joel Anderson, says their project fulfills a need in the area.
“We just felt there was a strong need in the area, the city had approached us after we did Wilderness Falls I and after a market study it was revealed that there was a need for it,” says Anderson.
The housing will be quite affordable with the rents ranging from $475-$560 per month.
NIFA representative Teresa Kile was present, as was a representative from Congressman Adrian Smith, Jerad Reimers. Falls City Mayor Jerry Oliver also spoke and told the crowd that they fulfilled his wish after the completion of the first project.
“I remember talking at the first one and I challenged them to possible have a second one and now I think we should maybe challenge them to a third one if we can swing it,’ says Oliver.
The newer units will have additional storage space compared to the first edition and the spaces will have high-efficient appliances.
As for the possible third development, Anderson doesn’t rule it out.
